JUSTIFICATION:
The loss of Jomani "Jo-Jo" Wright was felt throughout the community. At
15 years old he was already a starting point guard for Uniondale High
School's varsity basketball team. His athletic capacity earned him a
spot on the varsity team when he was still in 8th grade. Jomani excelled
as a basketball star making him one of the top-rated players and awarded
player of the year in Nassau County.
Jomani was not only a leader on the court, but he was also a scholarly
student. He retained a position on the honor roll while averaging 19
points per game as well. An incredible athlete and student who the
community repeatedly referred to as an inspiration.
The stretch of road to be named in Jomani's honor is a portion of State
Route 102 in his hometown. By naming this roadway in his honor it will
forever memorialize his life.
