TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing Michael O'Brien to take the compet-
itive civil service examination for the position of police officer and
be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police
officer for the village of Le Roy
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To grant Michael O'Brien the ability to take the competitive civil
service exam to apply for a job as a police officer in the village of Le
Roy, NY.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
service law, including the age requirements under paragraph (a) of
subdivision 1 of such section, or any other provision of law to the
contrary, Michael O'Brien, who is a resident of the hamlet of Getzville,
in the town of Amherst, in the county of Erie, shall be eligible to take
the competitive civil service examination for the position of police
officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be
eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-
time police officer with the Le Roy police department in the village of
Le Roy, county of Genesee.
Section 2. Michael O'Brien shall otherwise be subject to the merit and
fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time
police officers.
Section 3 sets the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
Michael O'Brien requires an age exemption to take the civil service exam
to apply to become a police officer in the village of Le Roy in Genesee
County, NY.
