JUSTIFICATION:
A fire department requires a certain amount of its members be residents
to ensure it can respond to emergencies safely and efficiently. Individ-
uals who are otherwise competent and willing to serve the Village of
Williamsville should not be barred from serving as a member of its fire
department simply because they live outside or have relocated outside of
the village. This legislation will best allow the village of Williams-
ville fire department to fill its ranks, and ensure it is able to
continue to provide comprehensive emergency protection to the village.
