TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of
the state highway system to Officer Stephen L. Raymond
 
PURPOSE:
To dedicate a bridge in the town of Lake George after ECO Stephen L.
Raymond.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 - Dedicates the bridge at of exit 23 of Interstate 87 in the
town of Lake George after ECO Stephen L. Raymond.
Section 2 - Directs the commissioner of transportation to install
signage.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Stephen L. Raymond spent more than 30 years as a state environmental
conservation officer. For the majority of his career, he was stationed
at DEC's Warrensburg office.
Raymond was deployed to the World Trade Center following the Sept. 11,
2001 terrorist attack and participated in rescue, recovery and cleanup
operations. Mr. Raymond subsequently developed cancer, which arose due
to his service, and ultimately died.
His service to the region, state and the country is deserving of recog-
nition.
