TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend chapter 295 of the laws of 2023 amending the tax law
relating to authorizing the city of Beacon to impose a hotel and motel
tax, in relation to the effectiveness thereof
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This legislation extends the City of Beacon's authority to impose a
hotel and motel tax through August 23, 2029.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amends chapter 295 of the laws of 2023 relating to authoriz-
ing the city of Beacon to impose a hotel and motel tax through August
23, 2029.
Section 2: Establishes the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
The City of Beacon passed Resolution No. 16 of 2026 requesting the
extension of their a hotel and motel tax. This will allow Beacon to
raise additional revenue and offset costs.
PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
This provision was enacted in chapter 295 of the laws of 2023 and is set
to expire on August 23, 2026.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS:
None to the state.
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.
