TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the village law and public officers law, in relation to
the residency of certain officers of the village of Washingtonville,
Orange county
 
PURPOSE:
To waive the residency requirement for the village clerk, deputy village
clerk, village treasurer, and deputy village treasurer of the village of
Washingtonville.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amends section 3-300 of the village law by adding a new
subdivision 37.
Section 2: Amends section 3 of the public officers law by adding a new
subdivision 77.
Section 3: Sets Effective Date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation was requested by the Village of Washingtonville. The
bill allows the Village of Washingtonville to hire, for the positions of
village clerk, deputy village clerk, village treasurer, and deputy
village treasurer, anyone who resides in the state of New York, so long
as they reside in Orange County or an adjoining county within the state
of New York.
