TITLE OF BILL:
An act authorizing the city of New York to transfer and convey certain
state land to the Amity Little League, Inc.; and providing for the
repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof
PURPOSE:
To authorize the City of New York to convey a parcel of land currently
used by the Amity Little League, Inc. for the continued purpose of
providing recreational, sporting, educational, and community program-
ming.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This bill authorizes the New York City Department of Citywide Adminis-
trative Services (DCAS) to transfer ownership of land known as the Amity
Little League Baseball Complex, located at the intersection of Avenue V
and Brigham Street in Brooklyn, to the Amity Little League, Inc.
The conveyance would be made for the nominal consideration of one dollar
and other terms as deemed appropriate by the commissioner of DCAS. The
property must continue to be used for recreational, sporting, educa-
tional, and community development purposes. BEGINNING at an intersection
of the southerly side of Avenue V and the easterly side of Brigham
Street,
RUNNING THENCE southerly along the easterly side of Brigham Street to
the point of intersection of the easterly side of Brigham Street and
northerly face of concrete base-wall for the chain link fence dividing
the property of PS-194 and the property of Amity Little League Ball 22
Field 315.42 feet,
THENCE easterly along the line forming an interior angle with the east-
erly side of Brigham Street of 90 degrees 02 minutes 12 seconds and
along the northerly side of said concrete base-wall a distance of 200.00
feet'to a point on the westerly side of Knapp Street, THENCE northerly
along the westerly side of Knapp Street, which is forming an interior
angle with the previous course of 89 degrees 57 minutes 48 seconds a
distance of 441.19 feet to an intersection with the southerly side of
Avenue V,
THENCE southwesterly, along the southerly side of Avenue V a distance of
236.19 feet, to the point or place of BEGINNING.
JUSTIFICATION:
For decades, the Amity Little League has served as a vital community hub
in Brooklyn, providing a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for
local youth and families. The league promotes physical fitness, team-
work, and community engagement while keeping young people active and
connected.
By formally conveying this parcel of land to the Amity Little League,
the City of New York can ensure the long-term preservation and improve-
ment of a space that has become a cornerstone of neighborhood life. This
bill allows the organization to invest in needed upgrades and expand its
programs, furthering recreational and educational opportunities for
generations to come.
