TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing the village of Mayville, in the county
of Chautauqua, to transfer its village reserve funds to the North Lake
Fire Department, Inc.
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This bill would authorize the village of Mayville, in the county of
Chautauqua, to transfer its village reserve funds to the North Lake Fire
Department, Inc.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: The village of Mayville, county of Chautauqua, having adopted
a resolution to do so, shall be authorized to transfer its village
reserve funds to the North Lake Fire Department, Inc.
Section 2: This act shall take effect immediately.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
It was the intent of the Village Board of Trustees to transfer the
Village's reserve funds to the newly formed North Lake Fire District to
support future equipment purchases. However, following guidance from the
State Comptroller's Office, it was determined that once the new district
was created, the village no longer had the legal authority to transfer
those funds.
This legislation will authorize the village to utilize the funds accord-
ingly.
