TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the veterans' services law, in relation to directing the
department of veterans' services to obtain certain information from the
United States department of veterans affairs

PURPOSE:

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Section 4 of the veterans' services law is amended by adding

veterans affairs related to the any New York state veterans discharged
from active service, and transfer such information to the appropriate
county service agency.
§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

JUSTIFICATION:
Previously, the New York State Department of Veterans Services does not
receive contact information for New York domiciled veterans discharged
from military service. By requiring such information to be collected
from the Federal Government and disseminated to local county veteran
service agencies, this would assist such agencies in transmitting infor-
mation covering programs, benefits and other resources which may be
available to discharged service members.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
New bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.
