TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to granting retroactive tier II membership in the New
York state and local police and fire retirement system to Cory M. Rose
 
PURPOSE:
Grants retroactive tier II membership in the New York state and local
police and fire retirement system to Cory M. Rose
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Authorizes Cory M. Rose to join the tier II New York state
retirement system based on his employment through the New York State
West Winfield public works department starting July 15, 2004
Section 2. Requires past service costs to be paid by the town of Horse-
heads village police department
Section 3. States effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
In 2004, Cory Rose was employed by the Village of West Winfield Public
Works Department. At that time, he was not informed of his eligibility
to enroll in the New York State Employees' Retirement System. This bill
would allow Mr. Rose to retroactively join the retirement system at the
tier that was available to him in 2004.
