TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the estates, powers and trusts law, in relation to elec-
tronic wills; to amend the judiciary law, in relation to rules relating
to electronic wills; and to amend a chapter of the laws of 2025 amending
the estates, powers and trusts law and the state technology law relating
to electronic wills, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 7416-A
and A. 7856-A, in relation to the effectiveness thereof
 
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to L.2025, C.637.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation amends the underlying chapter by clarifying various
definitions, establishing an electronic will's ability to be probated,
and the technological data required to accompany the electronic will.
The Office of Court Administration must also adopt rules necessary to
carry out the execution and storage of electronic wills.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect two years after it shall have become a law.
