TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to the
department of environmental conservation's regulation of crabs; and to
amend a chapter of the laws of 2025, amending the environmental conser-
vation law relating to extending certain provisions relating to the
department of environmental conservation's regulation of crabs, and to
prohibiting the taking of horseshoe crabs for commercial and biomedical
purposes, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 4289 and A. 4997,
in relation to the effectiveness thereof; and providing for the repeal
of certain provisions upon expiration thereof
 
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to L.2024, C.574.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation amends the underlying chapter by phasing in the
harvesting restriction over a three-year period.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
Sections 1 and 2 take effect on the same date and in the same manner as
the underlying chapter. Sections 3 and 4 take effect immediately.
