TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to requiring the
developmental disabilities advisory council to submit an annual compre-
hensive summary of information about its activities to the office for
people with developmental disabilities' website
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2025,
c.663, to improve accountability and transparency in New York State's
service delivery system for individuals with intellectual and develop-
mental disabilities by requiring the Developmental Disabilities Advisory
Council (DDAC) to submit an annual report to the Legislature and the
Governor.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation amends the underlying chapter by replacing annual
reporting requirements with direction to post information on the DDAC's
website.
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.
LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
Chapter amendment to Chapter 663 of the Laws of 2025. S.7793 and A.7560
passed the Senate in June 2025 and Assembly in June 2025, respectively.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a
chapter of the laws of 2025 amending the mental hygiene law requiring
the developmental disabilities advisory council to submit an annual
report on the activities of the council, as proposed in legislative
bills numbers 5.7793 and A.7560, takes effect.
