TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the veterans' services law, in relation to volunteer
opportunities for veterans
 
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to L.2025, C.666.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation amends the underlying chapter by clarifying that the
Department of Veterans' Services will provide information on volunteer
opportunities, and, where the opportunities include volunteer fire
departments and emergency services providers, the Department will
consult with applicable agencies to identify the most effective ways to
provide information on those volunteer opportunities.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a
chapter of the laws of 2025 amending the Veterans' Services Law relating
to establishing voluntary opportunities for veterans, as proposed in
legislative bills numbers S.274-8 and A.8485, takes effect.
