TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to the removal
of actions to certain courts in an adjoining county
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to L.2025, C.587.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation amends the underlying chapter by clarifying that the
receiving mental health court shall coordinate with the services provid-
er in the defendant's county of residence for treatment and requires the
defendant's case to revert back to the original court where there is
noncompliance with or noncompletion of the program.
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a
chapter of the laws of 2025 amending the Criminal Procedure Law relating
to the removal of actions to certain courts in an adjoining county, as
proposed in legislative bills numbers S.8312 and A.7563, takes effect.
