TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the not-for-profit corporation law, in relation to
exempting the Cody Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. from the requirement
that the percentage of non-resident fire department members not exceed
forty-five percent of the membership
 
PURPOSE:
Exempts the Cody Volunteer Fire Department Inc, within the Town of Gran-
by, Oswego County from the forty-five percent limit on non-resident
members
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section one waives the Cody Volunteer Fire Department Inc, from the
provision of law limiting non-resident members in a fire corporation to
forty-five percent of the actual membership.
Section two provides the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The Cody Volunteer Fire Department has had difficulty recruiting members
from their district and have reached the forty-five percent cap on out
of district members. This bill would allow them to recruit non-resident
members to address a volunteer shortage.
