TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of
the state highway system to Jason T McGlone
PURPOSE:
Dedicates a portion of the state highway system in the town of Hancock
constituting State Highway 30 from NYS Route 17 to the town of Colches-
ter line, shall be dedicated to Jason T McGlone.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section one of the bill provides that a portion of the State highway
system in the town of Hancock (Delaware County) constituting State Route
30 from State Route 17 to the town of Colchester line, shall be dedi-
cated to Jason T McGlone.
Section two of the bill specifies that the Commissioner of Transporta-
tion will provide for adequate signing noting such designation.
Section three of the bill is the effective date.
EXISTING LAW:
None
JUSTIFICATION:
Assistant Fire Chief Jason T. McGlone was a twenty-five-year member of
the East Branch Fire Department, serving as Assistant Fire Chief and
previously serving as Fire Police Captain for five years. Assistant Fire
Chief Jason T. McGlone died on July 17, 2025, in active line of duty
while on the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the town of Hancock on
State Route 30. Assistant Fire Chief McGlone was a very dedicated fire-
man who spent countless hours training and teaching kids about fire
safety.
He also volunteered at the Delaware County Fair Fire Prevention tent.
Assistant Fire Chief McGlone was the first line of duty death in the
town of Hancock Fire Service history.
