TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law and the public officers law,
in relation to establishing a school speed zone camera demonstration
program in the village of Colonie; and providing for the repeal of such
provisions upon expiration thereof
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new section 1180-i to
read as follows:
Section 1. Authorizes the Village of Colonie to establish a school speed
zone demonstration program
Section 2. Amends the public officers law to allow the Village of Colo-
nie to take photographs, micrographs, videotapes, and other recorded
materials
Section 3. Allows the Village of Colonie to purchase or lease the neces-
sary equipment
Section 4. This act shall take effect on the 13th day after it becomes
law and will expire on December 31st, 2030.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The Village of Colonie has requested this legislation due to the numer-
ous concerns of residents regarding speeding violations occurring in the
Saddlewood and Forest Park Elementary School's school zones.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the 13th day after it becomes law and will
