TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of
the state highway system to LCpl. Joseph Bailey
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Designates a portion of route 39 in the town of Gainesville, County of
Wyoming, as the "LCPL Joseph Bailey Memorial Highway"
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Amends the highway law by adding a new section 344-s which
designates a portion of highway state route 39 in the town of Gaines-
ville, county of Wyoming to be dedicated to LCPL. Joseph Bailey
Section 2. States that the commissioner of transportation shall provide
for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state
highway system as designated pursuant to section 1 of this act. The
designation will be for ceremonial purposes only, and the official name
of this bridge will not be changed as a result of this act.
Section 3. Provides the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
LCPL Joseph Bailey served his country in the United States Marines
during the Vietnam War where he was killed in action in the Quang Tri
Province while performing his duties.
