TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the civil service law, in relation to providing a legacy
credit to the children and siblings of persons who served in the mili-
tary and were killed in the line of duty
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Provides a legacy credit to the children and siblings of veterans who
were killed in the line of duty
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amend section 85-d of the civil service law to include defi-
nition of who may get civil service exam credit with regards to being
the child or sibling of a veteran killed in the line of duty
Section 2: Relates to the authorization of such credits with competitive
examinations
Section 3: Relates to the application for additional credit and proof
for eligibility
Section 4: Relates to the use of the additional credits
Section 5: Relates to the ability to withdraw application or relinquish
additional credit
Section 6: Relates to the roster that the department and each municipal
commission shall establish and maintain
