TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the Coordinated Construction Act for Lower Manhattan, in
relation to extending the effectiveness thereof
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
The purpose of this bill is to extend authorization for the City of New
York and both City and State agencies to utilize joint bidding for util-
ity interference work involved in certain public projects in lower
Manhattan.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 Amends section 5 of chapter 259 of the laws of 2004, consti-
tuting the Coordinated Construction Act for Lower Manhattan, as amended
by chapter 413 of the laws of 2024, to take effect immediately and shall
expire December 31st 2026.
Section 2 establishes an effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
The Coordinated Construction Act for Lower Manhattan was a response to
the damage suffered by Lower Manhattan from the 2001 attack on the World
Trade Center and aimed to assist in reconstruction efforts. New York
City has requested this authorization continue.
