TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend chapter 123 of the laws of 1945 incorporating the volun-
teer and exempt firemen's benevolent association of Thornwood, New York,
in relation to the purposes of the volunteer and exempt firefighters'
benevolent association of Thornwood, New York
 
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bill is to update the stated name and purpose of the
Volunteer and Exempt Firefighters' Benevolent Association of Thornwood,
New York and to update the sections of New York Insurance Law that this
section of law references.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 of the bill amends existing law to update the name of the
Volunteer and Exempt Firefighters' Benevolent Association of Thornwood,
New York in the law, and to update the corporation's stated purpose.
Section 2 amends existing law to update the sections of New York Insur-
ance Law that the existing law references and to state that the corpo-
ration shall only use the taxes it collects to achieve its stated
purposes.
Section 3 is the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill provides necessary amendments to existing law to ensure that
all language relating to the Volunteer and Exempt Firefighters' Benevo-
lent Association of Thornwood, New York and New York Insurance Laws is
up to date.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to taxes due on
premiums received on and after January 1, 2026.
