TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to
requiring notice to state elected officials upon receipt of applications
for certain licenses issued by the state liquor authority

PURPOSE:
This bill would require notice to be provided to state elected officials
upon receipt of an application for a liquor license.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: amends the alcoholic beverage control law by adding a new
section, § 110-d, which requires the State Liquor Authority to provide
written notice to the members of the State Assembly and Senate repres-
enting the district in which the premises is located or proposed to be
located, within thirty days of receipt of a completed application,
informing them that the application was received by the Authority.
Section 2: effective date.

JUSTIFICATION:
Existing alcoholic beverage control law requires applicants for a liquor
license to notify the local municipality of their intent to apply. This
pre-application notice enables local officials to stay informed and
provide updates to their constituents. To enhance transparency, this
bill requires that the New York State Liquor Authority notify state
assembly and-senate members representing the relevant district within
thirty days of receiving a completed application for a liquor license,
providing state lawmakers with timely updates on liquor license applica-
tions in their district.
