TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the elder law, in relation to establishing an elder
financial exploitation public awareness campaign
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Establishes an elder financial exploitation public awareness campaign.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Requires SOFA and DFS to establish an elder
financial exploitation public awareness campaign.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Sadly, over 300,000 New Yorkers are victims of Elder Abuse each year;
And financial crimes and abuse of our Older New Yorkers continues to
increase. A broad and robust public awareness campaign is warranted and
this legislation provides a seven layer approach to the problem.
