TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in
relation to requiring the department of parks, recreation and historic
preservation to cut down trees in a timely manner
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bill is to ensure requests for tree pruning and
trimming is completed within 2 weeks of a request in NYC
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 adds subdivision 5 to local law 133 of the administrative
code of the city of New York to require the department of parks, recre-
ation, and historic preservation to cut down trees within 2 weeks of
receiving such notice.
Section 2 is and immediate effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
Many residents have waited months, years, or perhaps have had no
response at all to requests for overgrown tree limbs encroaching on
their property, or potentially creating a hazard during an extreme
weather event. This bill would remedy that, and ensure parks is respon-
sive to such requests.
