PURPOSE:
To make it easier for the Setauket Fire District and the Stony Brook
Fire District to contract with the State University of New York at Stony
Brook for the provision of property and services.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section I. Authorizes the Setauket Fire District and the Stony Brook
Fire District to enter into agreements or contracts with the Sta te
University of New York at Stony Brook related to the provision of emer-
gency medical services or fire protection and for the recipr ocal
provision of services and other considerations of equivalent value.
Section 2. Sets the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The State University of New York at Stony Brook has expressed a mutual
willingness to contract with the Setauket and Stony Brook fire districts
for the provision of equipment and services. Under current law, it is
difficult for the two parties to contract with one a nother. This bill
seeks to make the process less complicated and encourage future cooper-
ation between the respective parties.
