TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the tax law, in relation to permitting funds collected
from the Oswego county occupancy tax to be used on making tourism
related capital improvements
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To allow an occupancy tax to be collected in Oswego County on any facil-
ity providing lodging on an overnight basis
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1) Allows for the collection of a four percent tax on all hotel
or motel rooms in Oswego County and provides guidelines for the
collection and distribution of the tax
Section 2) Effective date
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill was introduced at the request of Oswego County, to allow for
the collection on all hotel room and short-term rentals. The county
plans to use the additional tax revenue to promote tourism within the
county.
