TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the village law and the public officers law, in relation
to qualifications to hold the position of assistant village engineer in
the village of Croton-on-Hudson
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
The purpose of this legislation is to remove the requirement that is
needed to be a resident of Westchester County in order to become an
assistant village engineer in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 amends Section 3-300 of the village law and establishes the
qualifications to hold the position of assistant village engineer.
Section 2 amends Section 3 of the public officers law by adding a new
subdivision 76
Section 3 establishes the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
Current law establishes that when selecting a candidate for assistant
village engineer in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson they need to be a
resident of Westchester. County. This legislation will remove that
requirement and expand the application pool to additional applicants
regardless of where they reside specifically for neighboring counties
and Dutchess County.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.
