PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
The purpose of this bill is to enhance traffic safety by establishing
speed zone cameras in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 amends section 1111-i of the vehicle and traffic law and the
public officers law, to authorize the village of Croton-on-Hudson to
establish a demonstration program for speed zone cameras.
Section 2 establishes that no operation of photos should be in relation
to speed violation monitoring system and amends Subdivision 2 in Section
87 of the public officers law .
Section 3 establishes the purchasing for equipment for the demonstration
program.
Section 4 states the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill seeks to improve traffic safety and reduce speeding violations
in the village of Croton-on-Hudson. The installation Of targeted speed
zone camera devices will serve as a vital tool and resource, encouraging
drivers to slow down and obey traffic laws implemented.
By passing this legislation, these devices will be a step forward in
promoting public safety as well as prioritize the protection of drivers,
pedestrians, and families in the village.
