TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to permitting the
city of White Plains, Westchester county, to lease certain sports field
fences for advertisements
 
PURPOSE OF BILL:
Permits the the city of White Plains, Westchester County, to lease
certain sports field fences for advertisements
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 allows the city of White Plains in Westchester County to lease
municipal sports field fences located at Gedney Field, annually, at a
nominal rent to not-for-profit corporations or organizations for the
purposes of advertising, with revenue from said leases being used solely
for the care of such field.
Section 2 establishes the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The city of White Plains wants the ability to lease space on the fences
of Gedney Field at a nominal sum to a not-for-profit, for the purpose of
advertising in order to increase the revenue of the town's parks and
recreation department to improve and better maintain said field. Addi-
tionally, this would allow the White Plains Little League or other not-
for-profit leasing the fence, to invest the proceeds of advertising
sales into care of the field and may reduce the tax burden on residents
of White Plains.
