TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to authorizing
Duane Lake, in the town of Duanesburg, county of Schenectady, to partic-
ipate in the septic system replacement fund
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This bill will require the New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation to include Duane Lake in Duanesburg, New York, in the
septic system replacement program.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Subdivision 2 of section 1285-u of the Public Authorities Law is amended
to require that septic systems located in Duane Lake, in the Town of
Duanesburg, County of Schenectady, shall be eligible for reimbursement
under the septic system replacement program.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The Clean Water Infrastructure Act of 2017 established the Septic System
Replacement Fund. Property owners around Duane Lake, in the Town of For
years, Duanesburg has sought to have the Department of Environmental
Conservation include Duane Lake in this important program for maintain-
ing water quality. The Duane Lake Association and Schenectady County
support their inclusion in this program. This bill would require that
the Department of Environmental Conservation include Duane Lake, a rela-
tively small body of water with about seventy-five surrounding parcels
of property, in this program going forward.

This act shall take effect immediately.
