TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend chapter 670 of the laws of 2024 relating to authorizing
the lease of certain lands for the Albany NanoTech Complex, in relation
to prohibiting the state university of New York from contracting out
certain services
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To ensure that the lease of certain lands at SUNY Albany does not
displace any state employees or waive or impair any state employee
rights or benefits.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section one would provide that neither SUNY nor an entity affiliated or
associated with SUNY shall contract out to the Fuller Road Management
Corporation, subsidiary of such corporation, or the SUNY Research Foun-
dation for services or privatize any services currently performed by
unclassified SONY Albany employees working at the Albany NanoTech
Complex. This section would also provide that nothing within Chapter 670
of the Laws of 2024 related to the lease of SONY Albany property to a
private entity for the development, construction, or operation or facil-
ities shall waive or impair any rights or benefits of SONY employees.
Section two would provide the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill would provide necessary clarification of Chapter 670 of the
Laws of 2024 to ensure its effective implementation.
