SPONSOR: LANZA
TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in
relation to the reinstatement of certain officers and employees who were
dismissed from employment due to a COVID-19 vaccine requirement
PURPOSE OF BILL:
This bill reinstates New York City employees to their positions due to
being terminated from government mandated COVID-19 vaccination require-
ments.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amends the administrative code of the city of New York by
adding a new section 12-141.
Section 2: Is the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation reinstates New York City employee's who were unjustly
terminated from their jobs for not getting the COVID-19 vaccine. During
the pandemic, City employees kept the City running and were viewed by
government officials as "Hero's". As time went by, Executive Orders and
stricter mandates wreaked havoc on our free society and way of life.
Most people voluntarily got vaccinated for COVID-19. Due to various
reasons, there was a small group of City employees who did not. Because
they were not vaccinated, these employees were eventually given an ulti-
matum by City Government - get vaccinated or lose your job! These work-
ers had rent, mortgages and many other expenses and government came in
and took away their livelihood which provided for their families. This
bill corrects a wrong by reinstating these workers to their original
positions which was a result of government overreach.
