TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to expanding the
Tompkins county industrial development agency from seven to nine members
 
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the expansion of the
Tompkins County Industrial Development Agency (TCIDA) from seven to nine
members.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The Tompkins County Legislature has requested home rule legislation
which would authorize them to expand the Tompkins County Industrial
Development Agency (TCIDA) from seven to nine members. The county would
like to increase its membership as more members would enhance its abili-
ty to represent diverse perspectives and expertise. A member from a
school district within Tompkins County on the TCIDA would help ensure
that the interests of education and local school districts are consid-
ered in economic development decisions. This new representation and
continued representation from local labor organizations would align with
the County's commitment to inclusive and balanced decision-making.
