TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to granting retroactive tier IV membership in the New
York state and local employees' retirement system to Karen Siegel
PURPOSE:,
This bill would grant Karen Siegel retroactive Tier IV membership in the
New York State and Local Employees Retirement System.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section one of the bill allows Karen Siegel to submit an application
with the state comptroller to grant her tier IV status in the New York
State and Local Employees' Retirement System. Section two describes who
is responsible for any past cost incurred in implementing the provisions
of this act. Section three relates to the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
Karen Siegel commenced employment at High Tor State Park on June 28,
1992, which should have entitled her to Tier IV membership in the New
York State and Local Employees' Retirement System. However, for reasons
not due to fault on her part, Ms. Siegel did not become a member on June
28, 1992 when she would have been eligible. This bill will allow her to
file an application within one year of this bill becoming law that will
grant her Tier IV status.
