TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing the county of Nassau assessor to
accept an application for a real property tax exemption from Chabad of
West Hempstead
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Authorizes the County of Nassau assessor to accept an application for a
real property tax exemption from Chabad of West Hempstead.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 of the bill authorizes the assessor of the county of Nassau to
accept from Chabad of West Hempstead an application for exemption from
real property taxes pursuant to section 430 of the real property tax
law. Upon approval by the Nassau County legislature, the assessor may
make appropriate correction to the subject rolls.
Section 2 sets the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation would provide the Chabad of West Hempstead with .an
exemption from real property taxes pursuant to
Section 430 of the Real Property Tax Law. The Chabad of West Hempstead
is a not-for-profit place for worship for the West Hempstead community.
This legislation will provide for the County Assessor's office to
correct this error and grant their exemption, and therefore issue a
refund for taxes paid.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.
