TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend chapter 506 of the laws of 2016, amending the tax law
relating to the imposition of an occupancy tax in the town of North
Castle, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof
PURPOSE OF BILL:
To extend by two years the authorization for the Town of North Castle to
impose a room occupancy tax not to exceed 3%.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 extends the Town of North Castle's room occupancy tax for
two years until September 1, 2027.
Section 2 sets the effective date
JUSTIFICATION:
The Town of North Castle seeks the continued authority to impose a 3%
daily room tax on any room in a hotel, motel, or similar place. This tax
raises revenues to support municipal expenses. Chapter 506 of the Laws
of 2016 granted the authority to the Town of North Castle; this bill
would extend the expiration date for another two years from September
2025 to September 2027.
