TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the town law, in relation to authorizing the town of
Copake to establish community preservation funds; to amend the tax law,
in relation to authorizing the town of Copake to impose a real estate
transfer tax with revenues therefrom to be deposited in said community
preservation fund; and providing for the repeal of certain provisions of
the tax law upon expiration thereof
PURPOSE:
To authorize the. Town of Copake, in Columbia County, to establish a
community preservation fund.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amends the Town Law by adding a new Section 64-1 establishing
Town of Copake preservation funds.
§ 2: Amends the Town Law by adding a new Article 314
§ 3: Severability.
§ 4: Effective Date
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill will give the Town of Copake, in Columbia County, the authori-
ty to create Community Preservation Funds to protect its farmland and
open space. This legislation has been requested by the Town of Copake.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that section
two of this act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
have become a law and shall expire December 31, 2045 when upon such date
the provisions of such section shall be deemed repealed.
