TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to expanding
the residential parking permit system within the area known as Elmont in
the town of Hempstead
 
PURPOSE:
To expand the resident parking permit system in Elmont in the Town of
Hempstead.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amends Section 1662-e of the Vehicle and Traffic Law to
expand the residential parking permit system in Elmont in the Town of
Hempstead to include all of Sussex Road.
Section 2: Provides the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Residents and members of local civic associations have expressed
concerns regarding the availability of parking for residents in the area
of Elmont in the Town of Hempstead. This legislation would alleviate
this issue by permitting the Town of Hempstead to expand the existing
resident parking district to include all of Sussex Road, which is
currently limited to only the portion of Sussex Road north of 109th
Avenue.
