TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the tax law, in relation to authorizing the town of
Fishkill to adopt a local law to impose a hotel/motel occupancy tax for
hotels not located in the village of Fishkill; authorizing the village
of Fishkill to adopt local laws to impose a hotel/motel occupancy tax in
such village; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expi-
ration thereof
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To authorize the town of Fishkill and the village of Fishkill to impose
a local hotel and motel occupancy tax.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amends the tax law by adding a new section 1202-dd-2, grant-
ing the town of Fishkill and the village of Fishkill the authority to
adopt local laws imposing a hotel/motel occupancy tax on persons occupy-
ing rooms in hotels or motels within their respective jurisdictions.
Limits the tax rate to 2.5%. Allows the tax to be collected and adminis-
tered by the commissioner of finance or another fiscal officer of the
town or village.
Section 2: Provides the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation was requested by the Town of Fishkill and the Village
Fishkill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS:
None to the state.
 
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately, and shall expire and be deemed
repealed December 31, 2027.
