TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the education law, in relation to establishing the New
York city school lunch leftover take-home meal pilot program
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To amend the education law, in relation to establishing the New York
City SLLT (School Lunch Leftover Take-home)meal pilot program
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. the education law is amended by adding a new section 2589
Section 2. The effective date
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Millions of kids in America face the school day on an empty stomach.
For children who rely on school lunch, the weekends can be tough. This
pilot program will allow city schools to turn unused and unopened left-
over food supplies into take home meals for needy children without the
necessary provisions in their home.
