TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing the town of Pavilion in Genesee county
to share and hold justice court in the town of Covington in Wyoming
county
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Authorizes the town of Pavilion in Genesee County to share a hold
justice court in the town of Convington Wyoming County.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: The town of Pavilion in Genesee County and the town of
Covington in Wyoming County have adopted a joint resolution providing
for the adoption of a plan to authorize the town of Pavilion to share
and hold justice court in the town of Covington pursuant to an agreement
made between such towns for the use of such court.
Section 2: This act shall take effect immediately.
JUSTIFICATION:
Currently, the town of Pavilion is prohibited from utilizing the Town of
Covington's court facilities due to it crossing county lines, even
though they are neighboring townships and only 3 miles apart. Relocat-
ing the court facility from the town of Leroy in Genesee County to the
town of Covington in Wyoming County would result in cost savings for the
town of Pavilion, Genesee County residents and provide a closer, more
convenient location for them.
