TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing the Jamesville-DeWitt central school
district to discontinue the use of school district-owned parklands and
to lease such parklands to the town of Onondaga
PURPOSE:
Provides for the establishment of a park district in the town of Ononda-
ga.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section one amends section 198 of the town law to allow for the estab-
lishment of a park district in the town of Onondaga.
Section two establishes the effective date.
JUSTIFICATION:
Currently, the Jamesville-Dewitt School District possesses land within
the Town of Onondaga that is going unused. In coordination with the Town
of Onondaga, they wish to be able to lease the land to the town for the
purpose of constructing a new park. They want to lease as opposed to
sell to retain the option to utilize the land in the future should
growth of the school district necessitate it. Such an act would require
the authorization of the legislature.
