TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the county law, in relation to appointment of school
resource officers to private elementary and secondary schools
 
PURPOSE:
To allow the appointment of school resource officers to private elemen-
tary and secondary schools by county sheriffs.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Allows for county sheriffs' departments to appoint school
resource officers to private elementary and secondary schools.
Section 2: Provides the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Currently, only town police departments may appoint school resource
officers for private schools, however some rural schools do not have a
town police department. This would allow sheriff departments to do so as
well.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the 90th day after it shall have become a
