TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the state law, in relation to a state flag for raising
awareness of Black liberation
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Facilitates the creation of the "Juneteenth flag" which shall be the
official state flag for raising awareness of the history of slavery, the
struggles African Americans have faced, and the ongoing fight for equity
today.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
The state law is amended by adding a new section 93 to include a state
flag to raise awareness for Black liberation.
JUSTIFICATION:
The fight for Black people's freedom, rights, and empowerment is symbol-
ized by the Black Liberation Flag. The symbol stands for the continuous
struggle against colonialism, racism, and prejudice that Black people
went through and still endure today. It represents the concept of
resistance as well as the fight for freedom and equality.
Additionally, the flag serves as a visual symbol of Black solidarity and
identity. Black communities can take pride in their past by raising the
flag. Additionally, the flag reinforces the unity of movements committed
to racial justice and the emancipation of underprivileged groups, akin
to the official State and Federal Holiday of Juneteenth.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.
