TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in
relation to granting active duty military members free use of state
parks and campsites
 
PURPOSE:
Permits the use of New York's campsites, parks and other public places
of recreation free of charge for active-duty service personnel of the
United States Armed Forces.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amends the Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation law to
include active-duty military member of the armed forces of the United
States be permitted to use any public park or campsite without the
payment of any fees.
§ 2: Establishes the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation recognizes the commitment and service of active-duty
personnel of the United States Armed Forces by including them within the
provision of law that already permits veterans and members of a Gold
Star family to use any State public campsites, parks and other public
places of recreation without cost.
