TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the education law and the public health law, in relation
to prescription labels for mifepristone and misoprostol
PURPOSE:
This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2025
C.7 to permit prescription labels for mifepristone, misoprostol, and
their generic alternatives to include the name of the prescribing health
care practice instead of the name of the prescriber at the prescriber's
request.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This legislation makes technical amendments to the underlying chapter by
allowing for listing of the name of the prescribing healthcare practice
only, and not the provider's name, at the request of the provider.
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation is a negotiated change to the underlying chapter.
LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
Chapter amendment to Chapter 7 of the laws of 2025. S.36A and A.2145A,
respectively, in February 2025.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a
chapter of the laws of 2025 amending the education law relating to the
labeling of mifepristone, misoprostol, and their generic alternatives,
as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.36-A and A.2145A, takes
effect.
