An act granting retroactive tier IV membership in the New York state and
local employees' retirement system to Maureen Sullivan Nasca
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This bill grants retroactive tier IV membership in the NY state and
local employees' retirement system for Maureen Sullivan Nasca with an
effective date of December 7, 1995.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Authorizes Maureen Sullivan Nasca to apply for retroactive
membership in the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System
with an effective date of December 7, 1995.
Section 2: States no contributions made to the retirement system shall
be returned or refunded.
Section 3: States that all past employer costs of implementing the
provisions of this act shall be borne by the State of New York.
Section 4: Provides that this act shall take effect immediately.
JUSTIFICATION:
Dr. Sullivan Nasca was employed by the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer
Center from December 7, 1995, until December 22, 2913. She was eligible
to become a member of the New York state and local employees' retirement
system and through no fault of her own failed to do so. This bill would
correct this error by authorizing her to apply for retroactive member-
ship in Tier IV with an effective date of December 7, 1995.
