BILL NUMBER: S3652
SPONSOR: ORTT
TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to
prohibiting certain restrictions on motor vehicle sales
PURPOSE:
To prohibit certain restrictions on motor vehicle sates.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: No agency, department, or division of state government, or a
municipality will regulate the use or sale of motor vehicles by the
public based on the energy or fuel used.
EXISTING LAW:
n/a
JUSTIFICATION:
While NYS is moving to make vehicles electric, that is not the best
option for some New Yorkers. A one size fits all approach wilt not work
for such a diverse state. For some areas, it is simply not sustainable
to move in this direction. The state should not prohibit certain motor
vehicle people drive and how they are powered, and New Yorkers should be
able to use and buy what best fits their needs while still having a
choice.
