BILL NUMBER: S3620
SPONSOR: ORTT

TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the town law and the public officers law, in relation to
authorizing the building inspector in the town of Pendleton, county of
Niagara, to reside outside such town

PURPOSE:
To allow the building inspector for the town of Pendleton to reside
outside the Town.

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 Adds a new subdivision 35 to section 23 of the town law to
allow the building inspector for the town of Pendleton to reside outside
the Town.
Section 2 adds a new subdivision 71 to section 3 of the public officers
to allow the building inspector for the town of Pendleton to reside
outside the Town.
Section 3 establishes the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation, which is at the request of the town, would allow them
the opportunity to hire a building inspector who is not a resident. The
town is in desperate need of hiring a qualified building inspector, and
the town reports an extreme shortage of viable candidates who reside
inside the town. This legislation will ensure public safety by allowing
a qualified building inspector to be hired, regardless of location.
